Advocacy (Level 2 and Level 3)
People are entitled to be in control of their own lives but sometimes, whether through frailty, disability, financial circumstances or social attitudes, they may find themselves in a position where their ability to exercise choice or represent their own interests is limited. In these circumstances advocates can help ensure that an individual’s views and needs are heard, respected and acted upon.
Advocacy Code of Practice
The Level 2 Award is ideal if you are new to the area of Independent Advocacy and can be delivered as a Distance Learning programme. You complete one unit which will provide you with the knowledge needed to become an Independent Advocate. This unit is assessed through an assignment.
The Level 3 Certificate and Diploma are ideal for candidates working as Independent Advocates in a variety of settings, on a paid or voluntary basis. These qualifications will enable you to demonstrate your competence as an Independent Advocate towards funders and service users.
You complete four mandatory units and choose optional units relevant to your work. There are a number of different pathways. Crescent Training offers the Level 3 Certificate/Diploma in Independent Advocacy (Independent Advocacy with Adults).
Assessment is through a variety of methods, including observation of client interactions, professional discussions and assignments.
