Coaching and mentoring play a critical part in boosting productivity as people take on new opportunities or move between roles, both growing trends in today’s workplace.
New research published in 2018 by City & Guilds Group reveals that coaching is integral to productivity and performance, with 84% of workers saying that coaching should be part of every business’s management and development programme.
Who are these qualification for?
These qualifications are for you if coaching or mentoring is part of your daily role as a manager. They are also ideal for you if you want to move into a development role or start a career as a freelance coach or mentor.

The programme is delivered on a one-to-one basis. Before starting there is an informal meeting to ensure that you would be able to meet the evidence requirements of the qualification, discuss whether the Certificate or Diploma is appropriate for you and to agree a suitable timeframe for completion.
Both the Diploma and the Certificate have three units. For the first unit, there is an assignment to complete. You will be provided with one-to-one training sessions to cover coaching and mentoring theory and everything you need to complete this.
For the second and third unit, you will show how you have planned and prepared to deliver a coaching or mentoring programme and build a portfolio and a reflective diary to evidence this. You will have regular visits from your assessor during this time to provide advice, feedback and keep you on track. Your assessor will also observe your practice.
The final part of your qualification is to complete a professional discussion with your assessor reflect on your practice and how you have developed.
